topbanner1Supporting Redwood City PAL Will Be Music to Your Ears: The Redwood City Police Activity League is hosting their 11th annual PAL Blues, Music, ARTS & BBQ Festival this weekend. On Friday and Saturday, July 22 & 23, the Courthouse Square and its surrounding streets will be overflowing with food, music, art, and family fun. Blues artists from the Bay Area and beyond are scheduled to perform throughout the program, and top-notch barbecue cuisine will be available for attendees to snack on while enjoying the tunes. Additionally, the PAL Blues Festival and the city’s ART on the Square series have partnered to bring festival-goers unique artist booths and displays. Admission is free, and proceeds from this event will fund PAL youth programs that aim to improve the health, education, and leadership skills of community children. Bypass the downtown traffic this weekend by taking Caltrain to the Sequoia Station, only a five-minute walk away from the Courthouse.

Break the Weekday Cycle at the Silicon Valley Bike Summit: Help the transportation industry shift gears by achieving a safer, healthier future in transit at the 6th annual Silicon Valley Bike Summit. On August 11, the Silicon Valley Bike Coalition invites everyone to join the region’s active transportation leaders from government, law enforcement, non-profits, and the public to discuss the latest projects, policies, and issues that will make roads and trails safer for all people. Caltrans reps will be available to speak about the latest guidelines and case studies on protected bike lanes and intersections, as well as explain how to get innovative projects completed. The most current Vision Zero updates will also be discussed, and examples of pop-up demo bike projects will be provided for attendees to use on their own bicycles.
