Harry Potter Art Exhibit @ Hyatt Place in Downtown San Jose

Fans of witchcraft and wizardry are bound to enjoy the three day Harry Potter Free Art Event taking place February 22-24 at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Downtown San Jose. According to the event description, in addition to free admission, “attending Muggles, Witches and Wizards will receive a FREE 9″ x 11″ Harry Potter print (Limit 1 per 2 attendees). Artists will sign & add paint highlights/embellishments to purchased artwork making each piece unique & one of a kind.”

Perhaps the most magical part of the whole event is its close proximity to public transportation services… or if not magical, at least practical. Attendees can take Caltrain down to the San Jose Diridon Station and either walk 15 minutes to the hotel (why not show off your cosplay skills?) or connect to VTA by taking a Mountain View-bound light rail to the Convention Center Station. Be sure to check Caltrain and VTA’s latest schedules, and please remember that attempting to run through walls is highly discouraged at our stations.

SF’s Biggest Free Oscar’s Party @ SoMa StrEat Food Park

SoMa StrEat Food Park is back at it again with another fun occasion to enjoy local street food vendors. Sunday night the pop-up eatery hot spot invites you to join them for an Oscars party, equipped with local cuisine and the option to purchase a bottomless champagne package. The event lasts from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the venue sits about a mile from the San Francisco Caltrain station, which you can either walk or get to via Muni. Keep in mind Caltrain’s weekend bus bridge will still be in effect, so check the latest weekend timetable to plan your travels to and from.
