Art Kiosk Installation @ RWC Courthouse Square: The Redwood City glow-up continues with the installation of an Art Kiosk provided by the Redwood City Improvement Association. The kiosk, located in Courthouse Square, will display rotating installations, making this already lovely location lovelier still. There’s a ribbon cutting this Saturday, February 2, at 4 p.m., only a brief stroll from the Redwood City Caltrain Station. Go get your culture on, y’all.
Jym Marks Quintet @ Menlo Park: Here at Week in Transit, I like to keep it real. In that spirit, I’ll admit I know nothing about Jym Marks, or about jazz as a whole. But I know jazz is cool, I know it’s cool he opened for Thelonious Monk back in the day and lets not overlook the fact he spells Jim with a “y”. If that wasn’t cool enough, he’s holding a free concert at Menlo Park City Council Chambers this Saturday, February 2, from 11 a.m. to noon. This is just a short walk from the Menlo Park Caltrain Station, and is also accessible via the SamTrans ECR, so the only thing stopping you from going is your unwillingness to put on pants (because even Jym Marks’ coolness has limits).
US vs. Costa Rica @ Avaya Stadium: It is time for American soccer fans to wash the bitter taste of 2018 out of their mouths, and there’s no time to break an unpleasant streak like Groundhog Day. Saturday, February 2, the US Men’s National Soccer Team takes on Costa Rica at Avaya Stadium, and Caltrain is on hand to get you to the pitch on time. The stadium is walking distance from the Santa Clara Caltrain Station, and applying face paint is way easier on a train than it is while you’re driving.
