As we find ourselves enveloped by the seasonal slew of well-catered holiday parties, the aggressive army of festive pastries and the sugary sea of peppermint lattes, there is a strong argument to be made that this is perhaps the most wonderful time of the year for some exercise. Great America is here to help. On Saturday, December 22, the local amusement park is hosting Run & Ride – an outdoor race through the park. Racers have the option to choose between a half-marathon, quarter-marathon, 5K, 1-mile fun run or the new relay option for groups. Participants will receive swag, a finisher medal and entrance into Winterfest that same evening. The Run & Ride will take place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. If you’re coming in from San Francisco or the Peninsula, Caltrain can help get you there. Hop on the first Saturday morning southbound train of the day and connect to VTA at the Mountain View station for service to the Great America station.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Chicago Bears @ Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara

As we near the end of the NFL’s football season, the San Francisco 49ers are playing their last home game for the year against the Chicago Bears at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday, December 23, at 1:05 p.m. As always, in addition to weekend service, Caltrain will operate pre-game service with an extra southbound bullet train departing Bayshore station at 10:45 a.m. (keep in mind the weekend bus bridge service between the Bayshore and San Francisco stations). Riders can then connect to VTA at Mountain View station for service to Levi’s Stadium.

After the game, Caltrain will operate one special northbound local train leaving Mountain View approximately 75 minutes after the game, or when full. Avoid ticket lines by purchasing a joint adult Caltrain + VTA Day Pass on the Caltrain Mobile ticketing app. The joint mobile ticket is activated upon purchase. This pass is valid on Caltrain through the last train of the night and on VTA local buses and light rail until 3 a.m.

Caltrain to Operate Holiday Service Schedule on Christmas Day

Caltrain will provide holiday service on Christmas Day between the San Francisco and San Jose Diridon stations, including two northbound and two southbound bullet trains. Shuttle bus service will operate between the San Jose Diridon and Tamien Caltrain stations. Trains will not provide service south of San Jose.

The administrative offices of the San Mateo County Transit District, which manages Caltrain and SamTrans, and the 1st floor ticket sales booth will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Caltrain customer service is available on Christmas Eve, December 24, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Christmas Day, December 25, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by phone at 1.800.660.4287.
