Young people in San Mateo County are running out of time to apply to participate in the Youth Ambassador Program, a new initiative designed to encourage youth to take advantage of public transit.
The propgram is a peer-to-peer effort designed to allow students in San Mateo County to help encourage friends and classmates to take advantage of public transportation. The Youth Ambassador Program is a central component of the Youth Mobility Plan adopted by the SamTrans Board of Directors last year. Studies have shown that people who use public transit in their youth are far more likely to use it throughout their lives, making youth riders a priority for the agency.
San Mateo County high school and college students interested in applying to be Youth Ambassadors are encouraged to apply at www.samtrans.com/youthambassadors by the end of this week.
