South First Fridays Art Walk & Special Performances: Friday, August 3, is the South First Fridays Art Walk at the MACLA/Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana. From 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., enjoy a self-guided evening tour through galleries, museums, and independent creative businesses such as eclectic art exhibitions and special performances. Take Caltrain to the San Jose Diridon station then take the VTA 156 to the event.

San Francisco Mime Troupe’s “Seeing Red: A Time-Traveling Musical”: Tony Award-winning San Francisco Mime Troupe is back for its 59th season with their 2018 production “Seeing Red: A Time-Traveling Musical.” The production begins at 3 p.m. in St. James Park in San Jose. Don’t miss the live musical comedy and political satire of the Mime Troupe this Saturday, August 4.  Take Caltrain to the Santa Clara Station then the VTA 22 to get you there.

Kabuki on Film: Free Screening & Kabuki Expert Talks: Sunday, August 5, is the Kabuki on Film free screening and expert talk in San Mateo. From 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., view a Kabuki performance on film and have the opportunity to speak to knowledgeable and passionate experts about the experience. Although the films are in Japanese, there is an adequate synopsis and introduction given in English beforehand.  Take Caltrain to the San Mateo Station then walk approximately five minutes to the event.

History Museum: Free First Fridays: The San Mateo County History Museum is the site of Free First Fridays, all day, August 3. Admission begins at 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., every first Friday of the month. There will be a 2 p.m. general tour, exploring local history from the time of the original Native American residents until today. Be sure to catch the innovative historical and interactive experiences that the museum has to offer. Take Caltrain to the Redwood City Station then walk three minutes to the event.

San Mateo County Transit District Board Week: Ain’t no week like Board week because Board week…ok, it stops when the meetings are over, but you get the point. If you want to talk transit, join us at the SamTrans Building at 1250 San Carlos Avenue in San Carlos and see what our Boards have to say. We’ve got SamTrans (2 p.m., Wednesday the 1st), Caltrain (10 a.m. Thursday the 2nd) and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (5 p.m., Thursday the 2nd), and all we’re missing is you.
