SamTrans is studying the possibility of new express bus service through San Mateo County, to San Francisco and Santa Clara counties, and the agency wants to hear your thoughts. An express bus is a transit service designed to travel faster than traditional “local” services to popular commuter destinations while making fewer stops.

We’re opening up the doors at our San Carlos headquarters and inviting the public to come up to the second floor auditorium to hear about what kind of express bus services might be considered in the future.

Wednesday, June 13, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

1250 San Carlos Ave.

SamTrans wants to hear from current and potential riders about creating express bus service that meets their needs. Residents can meet the project team, provide comments, ask questions and get more information about the ongoing study. There will be a roughly 20-minute presentation to kick things off.

Since April 2017, the study team has completed a detailed market analysis and identified 15 potential express bus routes throughout the three-county study area. The ultimate goal is a network of four to six routes to be considered for a potential phased implementation. The study team will compile research, analysis, and the results of the community input into a final report by fall 2018.

You can get to SamTrans main offices by way of Caltrain and disembark at the San Carlos Station. The ECR bus route also makes a stop on El Camino Real. Both the station and the bus stop are short walks to SamTrans HQ.
