National Grilled Cheese Day: There’s a magic to the humble grilled cheese sandwich, a simple treat that you’d sell out your family for. If you’re in the mood to eat six of them in one sitting at an event with an all-the-beer-you-can-drink promotion, then you need to get to the SoMa StreEat Food Park for their National Grilled Cheese Day Celebration this Saturday, April 14. Take Caltrain to BART and get off at the 16th Street Mission BART Station, and you’re a short walk away from the venue (and having a short walk after eating nothing but grilled cheese sandwiches and beer is advised by most reputable medical professionals).
Electronic Music Festival: Ordinarily, I’d be suspicious of an electronic music festival that’s also educational. That said, the Community School of Music and Arts is hosting exactly that this weekend, and they’re all sold out, so clearly I don’t know what I’m talking about and folks are clamoring to learn and dance in equal measure. So, if you’re off to listen to The Flashbulb, Daniel Berkman and other electronic musicians I haven’t heard of while also participating in hands-on workshops and panel discussions on the genre, Caltrain has got you covered. The festival is just minutes away from the Mountain View Caltrain Station, so we can get you there before the beat drops.
Bikes Board First: Starting next Monday, April 16, the Mountain View, Palo Alto and Redwood City Caltrain Stations will be running a pilot program called Bikes Board First. If you are boarding at these stations, please allow bicyclists to board the bike cars first. The pilot program will run for five weeks, at which point boarding times will be tabulated and we will see if this could speed up everyone’s morning commute.
