Fundraiser for Corgi Con

If someone ever held a March Madness-style tournament pitting animals against each other in an all-out clash to determine which was the cutest, I’d have total faith Corgis would be in the last bracket standing.

Having said that, a fundraiser at the 7 Mile House – Historic Sports Bar, Grill & Live Music Venue caught my eye this week. The Brisbane establishment is inviting folks to drop by and grab a drink and snack to support Corgi Con.

The event on Saturday, March 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. will see 10 percent of proceeds go toward paying for permits, portable toilets, and garbage pickup on the day of Corgi Con, set for June 16 at Ocean Beach in San Francisco.

Look for the booth outside the restaurant where you can pick up some Corgi Con swag, a “puppachino,” and a “secret” item. And yes, there will be a menu just for dogs as well, even their own beer!

7 Mile House is at 2800 Bayshore Boulevard in Brisbane. For long-legged bipedal humans, it’s a less-than-one-mile walk from the Bayshore Caltrain Station. If you’re not up for the walk or your legs are more, shall we say, Corgi-esque, shorter walks are available by way of SamTrans stops on routes 292 and 397.

Celebrate Arbor Day in Mountain View

Celebrate Arbor Day with the city of Mountain View on Saturday, March 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Festivities will be at Pioneer Park, and will include: tree plantings, arts and crafts for kids, themed story times, a tree walk through the park, tree climbing demonstrations, information about trees and composting, and free hot dogs and drinks, while supplies last.

You can “leaf” the car at home and take a nice stroll through downtown Mountain View’s Castro Street from the Caltrain Station before you put down roots at the park. The celebration will be held, rain or shine.

SamTrans Board Meeting on Wednesday

The San Mateo County Transit District Board of Directors meets Wednesday, March 7; beginning at 2 p.m. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at 1250 San Carlos Ave. in San Carlos.  Presentations on the agenda this week include Mid-Year Performance Report FY2018, Get Us Moving Update, and Award Contract for the Purchase and Delivery of 10-Heavy Duty Electric Buses and Charging Stations.

The San Carlos Caltrain Station is down the street from San Mateo County Transit District offices. Multiple bus routes run and drop folks off nearby too.
