Electrification Meeting: Caltrain will be hosting a community meeting this week to discuss the next steps in the Electrification Project. The meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, at the Burlingame Recreation Center, 850 Burlingame Ave. The Burlingame Caltrain Station is just a block away from the recreation center. For more information about the project, visit www.caltrain.com/electrification.
San Francisco Giant Race: Are you a Giants fan? Do you enjoy running instead of viewing it as a form of punishment? This Friday, August 25, the San Francisco Giants are holding a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Kids Race & Family Relay. Participants will receive a bevy of swag, including a bobblehead and a medal. As always, the best way to get to AT&T Park is to take Caltrain to the San Francisco Station at 4th & King, and from there you can run to your heart’s content.
Italian Family Festa: If your ideal morning is less running without being chased and more about eating carbs, then we should hang out. And this weekend, August 26 and 27, Italian Family Festa San Jose offers just the place to do so. For 37 years, the Festa has offered fun, music and of course food in a celebration of Italian culture. Take Caltrain to the Tamien Station and you can catch the VTA 25 to Keyes & 12th, and from there just head towards the smell of fried dough and Sunday gravy just like mama used to make.
Free Rides for East Bay BART: Labor Day Weekend from September 2-4, BART will be offering free buses for the Warm Springs, Dublin/Pleasanton & Oakland Airport Lines as part of their “Show Up & Go” service. During this time, the trackway between the Fruitvale and Lake Merritt stations will be closed for repairs to increase safety and reliability of the line.
