Cherry Blossom Festival:  This Saturday, April 8, is the first day of the 50th Anniversary Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival, marking a half century of celebrating Japanese American culture. The event runs through Sunday, April 16, and offers visitors a parade, a film festival, performances of taiko drumming, and much more. Take Caltrain to BART, get off at the Montgomery Station, and catch the MUNI 38R to Japantown so you can celebrate this rich and diverse community.

Palo Alto Wedding Fair:  Long-standing fantasies aside, planning a wedding is complicated, expensive and emotionally taxing. If you’re in the process of planning one however, you’d be well-served to know as much as you can. This Sunday, April 9, the Palo Alto Crowne Plaza will host the Bay Area Wedding Fair, letting you speak with a range of vendors, check out thousands of little accoutrements, and get closer to making your special day the one you’ve always dreamed of. Catch the VTA 22 from the Palo Alto Transit Center and prepare to have strong opinions about veils.

Commute Challenge: Commute.org has launched its 2017 Commuter Challenge, offering prizes for commuters that use alternative solutions to get to, from, and/or through San Mateo County every day. Running from April 1 to May 31, you can register to participate at my.commute.org. By logging your trips on public transit, you earn chances to win gift cards, transit passes, shopping sprees and a new folding bicycle. Sign up today and gain another perk of using public transportation!
