Cheech in San Mateo:  Counter-culture comedy icon Cheech Marin comes to the San Mateo Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 31, at 6:30 p.m. He’ll be sitting down with the Bay Area’s Will Durst and speaking on his long career, the realities of being Latino in Hollywood, and his sizable collection of Chicano Art. Those interested can reach the venue by taking a walk from either the San Mateo Caltrain Station or Delaware & 2nd courtesy of SamTrans 292. Please note the Center is a no-smoking facility, Prop 64 notwithstanding.

TEDxPaloAlto:  TED talks are a go-to if you’re looking for fascinating people talking about fascinating things. This Sunday, April 2, Palo Alto’s Oshman Family JCC is the place to be if you want a front row seat. Speakers include Olympic medalist Ibtihaj Muhammad, OMEGA Global Initiative Director Dr. Jonathan Trent, robot expert Leila Takayama, and many others. The JCC is a healthy walk from the San Antonio Caltrain Station, but can also be reached via the VTA 35 from the Palo Alto Caltrain Station.

AC Transit Flex: AC Transit has launched Flex, a yearlong pilot program providing their riders with a dynamic reservation-based transit service. Lower demand routes are serviced by smaller buses that target stops based on their rider’s destinations, essentially becoming a customized express route. Beta-testing has shown that riders are reaching their destinations faster and more efficiently.
