With the arrival of December, it’s that time of year again—the moment the San Mateo County Transit District unveils its annual digital holiday greeting card.
This year’s card features an animated Caltrain train and SamTrans bus adorned with decorations in the holiday spirit, alongside a construction worker decked out in a San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) hat. The Transit District is the managing agency for Caltrain, SamTrans and the TA.
The greeting card can be found on the Transit District’s website at: www.smctd.com/HolidayGreetings2016. The card can be viewed as a GIF or as a short video with sound.
SamTrans and Caltrain serve more than 100,000 public transit passengers on an average weekday, and funding allocations from the Transportation Authority provide transportation improvements for residents throughout San Mateo County.
The Transit District is proud to serve its supportive, loyal and engaged customer base. The greeting card is our small way of saying thanks and wishing everyone the best during this holiday season.
###
About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. Caltrain enjoyed five years of consecutive monthly ridership increases, surpassing more than 60,000 average weekday riders earlier this year. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad celebrated 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the system, reduce diesel emissions by 97 percent by 2040 and add more service to more stations.
