Bare Your Sol at SF Music Fest: Music lovers can enjoy one of the region’s most unique summer festivals this Saturday, when the Phono del Sol Music and Food Festival kicks off in San Francisco. Tucked away in the Potrero del Sol Park near the city’s Mission District, the festival will feature a day of music highlighted by nationally-recognized acts like Alvvays and Chairlift. The family-friendly gathering also includes food trucks from some of San Francisco’s finest local outfits, beer and wine tents and activities for the kids to enjoy. Attendees coming from the Peninsula can take Caltrain to the 22nd Street station and transfer to Muni’s 48-Quintara bus line for a direct trip to the festival.
AC Transit Expands Service; Increases Connections to BART: AC Transit, the East Bay’s primary bus operator, recently implemented AC GO, the most expansive increase of service in the history of the agency. Overall, the improvements reflect a 14 percent increase in service, including more frequency and later operating hours on some the bus provider’s busiest lines. Three new lines will be created as a result of AC GO, three will have their routes extended, and six will operate later into the night. Additionally, AC GO will improve connections for passengers transferring to BART.
Take a Deep Breath and Bike for a Good Cause: The 25th annual Bike 4 Breath event, where cyclists take to the roads to promote healthy lung conditions, will take place this Saturday in Atherton. Participants in the fundraising event can challenge themselves to bike distances from 10 miles to 64 miles, with the money raised from the gathering donated to research of lung diseases. The event starts at Encinal Elementary School, which is about a 15-minute walk from both the Atherton and Menlo Park Caltrain stations. Caltrain’s schedule provides hourly service in both directions on Saturday, along with one early-morning Baby Bullet train.
The Bike 4 Breath ride departs at 7am sharp in Atherton. Be there or be square.
