Fans of oversized power vehicles can avoid beastly traffic and parking conditions by making Caltrain part of their trip to the Monster Jam at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara this Saturday night.
The motorsports extravaganza, featuring huge trucks bashing obstacles to bits, freestyle racing events, and a host of other adrenaline-pumping competitions, will began at 7 p.m., with doors opening for fans at 5 p.m.
Caltrain’s weekend schedule offers hourly southbound service to the Mountain View Caltrain Station. From there, fans will be able to board Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority’s light-rail vehicles to the stadium in Santa Clara. Those trips will take about a half-hour.
Following the event, Caltrain will operate its regularly-scheduled service, with the last northbound train slated to depart the Mountain View station at 10:49 p.m.
Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system; tickets are not sold onboard trains but can be purchased at ticket machines at the stations. Fans are encouraged to purchase an adult joint Caltrain/VTA Day Pass at Caltrain ticket machines to avoid long lines after the game. The pass costs $6 more than the regular adult Caltrain Day Pass, but it is valid for unlimited rides within zone limits on Caltrain through the last train of the day, and until 3 a.m. on VTA.
Caltrain reminds fans to drink responsibly and remember that open containers of alcohol are not allowed on trains after 9 p.m. following special events. Food and beverage consumption aren’t allowed on VTA.
Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5 for the day, and permits can be purchased at station ticket machines. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day.
