The Giants Are Back in Town! Take Caltrain to Home Games at AT&T Park

It’s an even year again, which means the Giants are due for another World Series title, and Caltrain will be baseball fans winning choice for getting to all the team’s home games at AT&T Park.

After a long offseason, the Giants return to their home ballpark on Thursday, March 31, and Friday, April 1, for a series of exhibition games against their cross-Bay rival, the Oakland Athletics.

Both contests will start at 7:15 p.m. Caltrain’s San Francisco station, located on Fourth and King streets, is just one block from AT&T Park. Caltrain’s weekday schedule offers numerous trains that arrive in San Francisco before the teams take the field.

Following next week’s games, two special trains will depart San Francisco for San Jose. An express train to Belmont will leave approximately 15 minutes after the last out, or when full. After expressing to Belmont, the train will make all local stops to the San Jose Diridon station. In years past, that train expressed to San Carlos, but due to the start of construction on the San Carlos Transit Village this summer, the express route has been shifted to Belmont for the Giants’ 2016 season. Parking at the Belmont Caltrain Station will be free until July 1, when a daily fee of $5.50 is implemented.

A second train will depart San Francisco 25 minutes after the last out, or when full, and will serve all weekday local stops to San Jose Diridon.

More information on Caltrain’s service plans for the 2016 Giants season can be found here.

The Giants have been Major League Champions in the last three even-numbered years—2010, 2012, and 2014. The team will hope to retain that streak this season, after a disappointing 2015 in which they missed the playoffs.

For the customer’s convenience, Caltrain ticket machines feature a “San Francisco” button. Fans can buy up to 9 tickets and a parking permit in a single transaction. Daily parking permits for Caltrain stations are sold at Caltrain ticket machines inside stations or on train platforms.

Caltrain reminds fans to drink responsibly and to remember that open containers of alcohol are not allowed on trains after 9 p.m. following special events

About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. Caltrain has enjoyed five years of consecutive monthly ridership increases, surpassing more than 60,000 average weekday riders earlier this year. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad celebrated 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor, reduce diesel emissions by 97 percent by 2040 and add more service to more stations.
