Celebrate Chinese New Year in SF: Weeks of celebrating the Year of the Ram will culminate with the staging of the annual Chinese New Year’s Parade in San Francisco on Saturday. Beginning February 14, and featuring events like the Miss Chinatown U.S.A. Pageant and the Chinese New Year Flower Market Fair, the Year of the Ram revelry has transformed San Francisco, home to the largest Chinatown outside of Asia. The New Year’s Parade, named one of the Top 10 parades in the country by the International Festivals and Events Association, will begin at 5:15 p.m. at Second and Market streets in downtown San Francisco, before winding its way through the streets of Chinatown. The route is directly accessible by numerous public transit services, including BART, AC Transit and Muni. The San Francisco Caltrain Station, located at 4th and King streets, is about a mile walk from the start of the parade. Caltrain offers hourly service between San Jose and San Francisco on the weekends, with two Baby Bullet express trains in each direction.
Service and Schedule Adjustments Coming to Golden Gate Transit: Starting on Sunday, Golden Gate Transit will adjust schedules and services to a handful of its routes in order to improve service efficiency. The upcoming changes include the addition of new trips, slight tweaks to scheduling and adjustments intended to improve connections with other transit services, including the Larkspur Ferry. Golden Gate Transit operates the bus system that connects the North Bay with points south. It is managed by the same agency that oversees the Golden Gate Bridge and the Golden Gate Ferry system.
