We’re Glad You’re Here
This is our inaugural post and we’re so glad you decided to join us. We couldn’t think of a more fitting way to kick off a blog that will chronicle our work at SamTrans, Caltrain and the Transportation Authority than by praising the important work our Transit Police do. But this blog will give you a look behind the scenes of key San Mateo County Transportation decisions and insight into the employees making its service possible. We hope this will be a place where we can answer your questions and listen to your thoughts and concerns. If you have ideas for posts you would like to see, please email us at socialmedia@samtrans.com.
Suggestion for a post:
The Caltrain schedule is pretty complicated. Which trains stop where, which stations are bypassed, even within categories of express or baby bullet trains, the station list and travel times can vary quite a bit. I’m sure it’s a tradeoff between trying to provide the most efficient service and trying to provide service to so many stations along the corridor.
It would be great to understand this better — and the thinking behind optimizing the schedule — so that the next time a train zips through your station without stopping, you don’t curse the schedule planners for no reason.
Chris,
We will do a blog post on this to help clear any confusion. Thanks for the suggestion. We’ll cover how to read the schedule and why that schedule was created.
